Rathdrum Police Officer Remembered

Thursday  family and friends paid their respect to 27-year old Jonathan Franco.

The Rathdrum Police Officer was killed in an off-duty motorcycle accident last weekend near Cusick.

Over a dozen different agencies were in a procession honoring Franco. They left Post Falls Thursday afternoon and headed to Rathdrum were Franco will be laid to rest.

The procession stretched down the road and representatives from several agencies could be seen, including Post Falls, Coeur d'Alene and Moscow.

 

Franco joined the Rathdrum Police Department in 2006.

Days after the death of Rathdrum police officer, Jonathon Franco, Post Falls Dispatch shares their own memorial over the police scanners for anyone that was listening to hear.

11 a.m. - Post Falls dispatcher puts out call for Jonathan Franco, the Rathdrum police officer killed this week in a motorcycle accident near Cusick, Wash. She repeats: “Post Falls 4012, Post Falls 4012, Post Falls 4012 … Post Falls 4012 out of service … gone but never forgotten.” - (Read more at Huckleberries Online)

A public viewing memorial for Franco begins at Noon at Real Life Ministries, 1866 Cecil Road in Post Falls. The service begins at 1:30 p.m.

Off-Duty Rathdrum Police Officer Killed in Saturday Morning Wreck

(Updated 9:28 p.m.) - An off-duty Rathdrum police officer was killed Saturday morning when his motorcycle was involved with a two vehicle accident four miles south of Cusick.

Jonathon Franco, 27, had been with Rathdrum police since 2006 working as a patrol officer.

Coeur d'Alene Press reported that Franco's motorcycle hit a Plymouth whose driver slowed for an injured deer in the road. Motorcycle debris from wreck struck a third vehicle.

Family and friends have been remembering him on his Facebook page since word got out.

If you are an aspiring actor or actress then it is time to brush up on your memorization and acting skills.  The Lake City Playhouse is having auditions for the production "Sorry! Wrong Chimney."  This production is a hilarious Christmas story about a wife becoming suspicious of her husband that is moonlighting as a late night department store Santa.  The Santa burglar and his gun toting fiance and a confused policeman help make up the cast of this fun production. The production is in need of 3 men and 3 women ages 25 to 40.  Please come dressed for movement and cold readings from the script.

Spirit Lake wraps up the summer season

Recreation at Spirit Lake is coming to a close this season. Spirit Lake Parks & Recreation will be closing up shop at the lake with their boat rentals and other activities after Labor Day.

Ashly George, junior at Timberlake High School, has been spending her summer days working the boat rental at the Lakeside Rec Center at the shores of Spirit Lake.

"I'm done Tuesday. I'm just trying to get a little more money for gas," George said.

It's official, I wish I could be 13 years old forever. Today I had the opportunity to dilly dally around in a "Rolling Video Games" trailer. When they first showed up Robyn Nance insisted I come and check it out (it was a setting place for a Wednesday Child shoot). At first i was hesitant for some reason, it took two invites to get me out there and let me tell you I'm glad I did!
