Getting Up Close and Personal with the Flames

Getting Up Close and Personal with the Flames

Four North Idaho Fire Departments got together in November for a rare opportunity. There was a home donated for a practice burn.

Larry Neff wanted to get rid of it anyway and as a former volunteer firefighter, he knows the value of this kind of training.

Northern Lakes, Sagle, Spirit Lake and Timberlake Fire Departments didn't waste the chance. A burn room within the house was set up and team after team went in to practice responding to a house fire.

The idea was to learn about fire behavior and safety practices in a controlled environment. But it doesn't mean the risks aren't real.

City of Post Falls Looking for your Opinion

The City of Post Falls is looking for your opinion about pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

There is a survey up on the Post Falls City website where you can give your input about improvements.

The current pedestrian and bicycle facilities were looked over by city staff, who developed a list of improvements, including better access to the City Center area.

On the website you can see the survey, support maps and ranking tables.

According to the city, facility improvements that are currently funded, including the Highway 41 Trail beneath the I-90 Overpass and the Clark Fork Rail crossing, are not on the list.
