Enrollment is underway for a series of summer camps in North Idaho, aimed at kids ranging in age from 3rd grade to 12th grade. The robotics camps, sponsored by Discover Technology, will be held in Post Falls in June and July. Here's more information from Discover Technology:

Help Clean Up Sandpoint

Spring cleaning is in the air in Sandpoint as the town prepares for its annual street cleaning event.

Shake The Sand Out of Sandpoint will take place Saturday, April 30th at 8:30 a.m at Jeff Jones Town Square on Main and Oak in downtown Sandpoint.

The annual event is sponsored by Mountain West Bank and the Downtown Sandpoint Business Association.

Volunteers are needed to pick up litter and pull weeds from downtown Sandpoint, Ponderay and Kootenai.

In exchange for all the hard work, Mountain West Bank will provide free breakfast and lunch for volunteers.

Gov. Otter signs Idaho wolf disaster bill into law

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has signed a bill into law that will allow him to declare a wolf disaster emergency in Idaho.

The governor signed the bill Tuesday, even though Congress already took action this month to strip federal protections from wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains. Otter says he also has concerns about undermining his own statutory authority to declare such disasters, with the new state law.

Spring allergies are kicking in.  Some people around here are battling the itchy eyes and runny nose.  I am struggling with my asthma, because of the "very high" grass pollen, and the "high" tree pollen count.

Here are some photos of Avista removing the beginnings of an osprey nest at the corner of Idaho Road and Wellesley near the Stateline.  They plan to replace the nest with a nesting platform which you can see with the additional images attached to this story.

Post Falls Cancels Annual Tree Giveaway

Citing "economic difficulty", the annual tree giveaway put on by the city of Post Falls won't be happening this year.

The "Plant-A-Tree for Free Day" has been held each spring for the last seven years as part of the Arbor Day activities. Last year, the city gave away 3,000 trees.

Idaho Monitoring Radiation Levels

The Idaho Department of Health reports it is working with the federal government and other states to monitor information and data concerning potential radiation contamination in the wake of the nuclear incident in Japan. Press release from the health department below.
