Start summer with a free visit to a national park!

Honeysuckle Beach Opens Late

Honeysuckle Beach Opens Late

Eventhough we're all itching to get into our swimsuits and hit the beach, you're going to have to wait a little longer on Hayden Lake. The City has moved back opening day for Honeysuckle Beach to June 18th. It says the water level is just too high and the temperature is just too cold to open up any earlier. Starting June 18th, lifeguards will staff the beach from 11 in the morning to 6 at night.

If you're a boater, you can expect to pay a fee to launch at Honeysuckle.

Route of the Hiawatha Opens Saturday!

Route of the Hiawatha Opens Saturday!

Pump up the bike tires and grab your helmet - one of the Inland Northwest's favorite trail rides, the Route of the Hiawatha, opens Saturday!

The June 11th opening actually marks a delay in the trail's typical season. The route usually opens from May to September, but the cool spring and heavy snowfall delayed the opening. Crews from Lookout Pass, which operates the trail, have been clearing the snow from the trailhead's highest peak to get ready for this weekend.

One of the largest forests in the Inland Northwest is growing Indoors.  More than one million trees are under one roof alone at the US Forest Service's Coeur d'Alene Nursery.    The Nursery grows tree, shrub and grass seedlings for national forests in North Idaho, Montana and North Dakota.  "We lose trees in the forest from fire, insect, disease and harvest," Nursery Superintendent Joe Myers said.   "We want to reestablish that vegetation."  The Coeur d'Alene Nursery has supplied more than 700 million seedlings in the past

"More roads closed as flooding continues through central Montana"

"More roads closed as flooding continues through central Montana"

There's been flooding all over Idaho recently, but it's not the only state experiencing disaster. Flooding is sweeping through Montana closing roads and isolating communities. There's flood warnings from Great Falls down to Dillon, a flood advisory for Kalispell, up to Eureka and flood watches for many counties in between. The Great Falls Tribune has a slide show of over 50 photos showcasing the disaster in the area. It includes everything from washed out roads to rushing water through homes and camp sites.
