Mysterious Disappearances Back In Spotlight

A local organization is offering a cash reward for information on two unsolved cases. Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is asking for information on these missing person cases that were first profiled 25 years ago.

Deborah Jean Swanson was reported missing in 1986 after parking her car in the Third Street parking lot in Coeur d'Alene. She was last seen walking onto Tubbs Hill on March 29th.

Detectives found her vehicle undisturbed with her purse inside.

Murder-For-Hire Trial Underway for Sandpoint Attorney

Jury selection is underway in Boise in the federal murder-for-hire trial of a Sandpoint attorney. Edgar Steele is charged with hiring a man to kill his wife and mother-in-law.

The FBI says it has recordings of Steele hiring Larry Fairfax to plant a bomb under Cyndi Steele's car last year. Fairfax told the FBI that Steele hired him, but failed to tell federal agents he had actually planted a device.

COEUR D'ALENE--  A Coeur d'Alene man watched two men take off in his fishing boat Sunday morning, said a Kootenai County Sheriff's Department news release. 

It happened on Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive west of Higgins Point.

Kootenai County Sheriff's Department, Coeur d'Alene Police and Idaho State Police responded to the call.

Training weapons will help deputies train safely, more efficiently

The city of Dalton Gardens has loaned the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department some specialized weapons to help train deputies cheaper and more efficiently.

Dalton Gardens recently purchased training weapons that only fire non-lethal rubber projectiles. The weapons will allow deputies to train in real-life scenarios without having to go to a firing range to fire live ammunition.
