Lakeside Students Hosting Food Drive Competition

There's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition - right? Or at least when it's for a good cause like a food drive for local families.

Pick your sides, by that we mean gender. Lakeside High School Leadership Class and Honor Society are working together to see who can bring in the most food as possible. The boys or girls?

If you'd like to contribute, find the nearest Lakeside student and find out more information to contribute to the cause.

Food drive information provided via the Lakeside School News and Activities email. The email also reminds parents to make sure their kids wear their coats, hats, gloves and winter boots. It's kind of cold outside.

A crowd of 30,000 is expected to pour into downtown Coeur d'Alene on Friday to kick off the Christmas season with the 25th annual Holiday Light Show.

The event starts at 5:00 p.m. with a parade along Sherman Avenue.  (Hint: Get there an hour or two early to a claim a spot on the sidewalk.)  At 6:00, head over to the front lawn of the Coeur d'Alene Resort to sing Christmas carols.  A 1,200-shell fireworks show begins at approximately 6:15, and then they flip the switch to turn the holiday lights on, all 1.5 million of them.

G.I. Holiday Jukebox

G.I. Holiday Jukebox

Set during WWII, Christmas time, the show features four fictitious Hollywood stars who put together a string of 1940's hits and Christmas music to entertain "the boys" at the front.  Filled with great holiday music and comedy, the show is reminiscent of the USO shows.

The cast sings some of the best music of the twentieth century, including tributes to The Andrew Sisters, Bing Crosby, Spikes Jones and many more.

The show is being presented by the Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre at the Coeur d'Alene Resort, 115 South 2nd Street, Coeur d'Alene. The show runs from November 23 to December 25 with performances on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm with a matinee show on Sundays at 3pm.

Lollipop Lemondrop Extravaganza

Lollipop Lemondrop Extravaganza

Shopping with the kids is easier said than done at most stores, but Lollipop Lemondrop in Liberty Lake makes the process fun. The boutique is hosting Holiday Shopping Extravaganza and kids are welcome.

In addition to the consignment name brand clothing and gourmet lollipops always available to its shoppers, the store is bringing in 25 vendors to help you get your holiday shopping done in one fell swoop. Jewelry, chocolates, and clothes, the list goes on and on.

However, the best part is the kid's stuff. Bring the kids for Santa's Workshop. They can write Santa a letter and make reindeer food.

Job Opportunity: Coeur d'Alene's Santa Claus

It’s a Christmas emergency and we’re not even to Thanksgiving yet. Apparently the Journey to the North Pole event aligned with the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s Holiday Light Show has yet to hire a Santa.

They're now setting up auditions for the role and hopefully they can get somebody in the suit in time for their December 1st starting date.

Here’s the information potential Santas need to know for this role. They’ll have lines to memorize for interacting with children and other patrons at the North Pole. A slip of words could ruin the ruse of the North Pole.

If the potential Santa has not consumed enough cookies over the year, padding is available.
